WHAT TO EXPECT: You may be wonderi
How long is a massage session? A massage session can last from 30 minutes to 1 hour or more depending on the individual.
Who will give me my massage? Your massage will be given by a licensed massage therapist with many hours of training, often in several types of massage.
What is the first appointment like? Your massage therapist will begin by asking you to fill out a form with general health questions, since there are some conditions for which massage is not appropriate. Your massage will take place on a table especially designed for stability and comfort. The room will be warm and quiet, often with soft music to set a relaxing mood.
How much clothing do I need to remove? Most commonly, people remove most or all of their clothing fora full body massage and are draped with a sheet throughout the session. Undress as much as is comfortable for you. For chair massage and some other types of massage, undressing is not necessary.
What should I do in a massage? Make yourself comfortable. Most people close their eyes and relax completely during a massage. Others prefer to talk. It's your massage, and whatever feels natural to you is certainly the best way to relax. Do not hesitate to ask questions about what your massage therapist is doing, or about the massage in general.
What do I do after the massage? When your massage is finished, your massage therapist will leave the room while you dress. Be aware that the massage can be profoundly relaxing, and it affects all of your body's systems. Give yourself a moment to reorient before slowly getting up from the table.
